LINCOLN, Neb. - The Iowa Central men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Woody Greno Invite this past weekend.
Both the men's and women's teams placed second overall among all non-division I teams. With the Division I teams included the women were fifth and the men were fourth.
Fankline Tonui was the overall champion, even after taking a wrong turn. He posted the fifth fastest 8K time at Iowa Central, while teammate Tahir Chakisso posted the seventh fastest all-time.
The women were led by Hannah Maina, placing third overall. Maina posted the second fastest 6K all-time at Iowa Central, while teammates Cecila David (11th), Aden Alemu (13th) and Tara Jackson (15th) also cracked the list.
"It was a great race by everyone,'' said Iowa Central head coach Dee Brown. "I was very pleased. Our largest and most competitive meet of the year is in two weeks at the University of Arkansas.''
