RUTLAND - A Humboldt County man died when the tractor he was driving collided with a semitrailer a mile east of Rutland late Friday afternoon.

The man was driving a 1980 Allis Chalmers 7010 farm tractor pulling a grain wagon when he attempted to turn north from Humboldt County Road C29 onto Juniper Avenue, just after 4 p.m.

His tractor was struck by a semitrailer attempting to pass, according to Iowa State Patrol Lt. Kelly Hindman, District No. 7 commander.

Names of the drivers were not released at press time.

The vehicles collided in the intersection, Hindman said in a press release.

The driver of the 2003 International semitrailer wasn't injured.

Both vehicles were eastbound when the collision occurred, according to Hindman.

The accident is still under investigation by the ISP, according to Hindman.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Department and the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Ambulance assisted at the scene.
