CLAIR L. HENRY

Clair L. "Hank" Henry, 80, of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

A service honoring Clair's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Snook officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by V.F.W. Post No. 1856. The visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Clair is survived by his wife Maxine; his children, Deborah (Kenneth) Sjogren, Otho; Michelle (Harley) Foster Jr., Thomas Henry, and Richard (Lisa) Henry, all of Fort Dodge; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, his sister Delight Deyarmin, North Carolina; and sister-in-law Sarah Henry, Lucerne Mines, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Elmer, Walter and Ralph; and his sisters, Mary Ellen, Yvonne and Marie.

Clair Lee Henry, the son of Walter and Velma (Huffman) Henry, was born November 5, 1932, in Homer City, Pennsylvania. He was reared and educated in Pennsylvania. Clair served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On December 31, 1953, Clair was united in marriage to Maxine Porter in Sioux City. Clair was employed from 1954 to 1992 with Georgia Pacific and retired after more than 38 years of service.

Clair was a member of Golden Mikes of Iowa CB Club. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed fishing, camping and bowled for many years. Clair especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
