ESTHERVILLE - The Iowa Central wrestling team escaped with a 20-19 dual victory over No. 13 Iowa Lakes Wednesday night.
Richie Lewis (157) prevailed by fall for the Tritons, while Jacob Davis (197) earned a technical fall.
In addition, Nate Smith (125), Caleb Studebaker (141) and Gunnar Clark (185) each won by decisions for Iowa Central.
Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Nate Lentsch (133), former St. Edmond prep Teddie Harvey (149), Corbin Farrell (165) and Jacob Meehan (174) all dropped their matches for the Tritons.
Ben Schnurr (Fort Dodge) of Iowa Central also picked up a victory in an exhibition match.
"It was back and forth the whole way," said ICCC head coach Luke Moffitt. "We got a couple of upset matches to go our way, but we also gave up a couple of falls that hurt us. It was 20-19 going into the heavyweight match, which ended in a double disqualification for a little altercation on the edge of the mat. We don't have a lot of guys ranked right now, so this was a step in the right direction."
Next action for the Tritons is Saturday at the Buena Vista Open.
