Austin W. Brown has admitted to causing the deaths of two people in a car accident almost exactly a year ago.
Brown, 21, pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, a Class C felony, shortly before noon Tuesday.
Brown admitted that on Dec. 21, 2012, he was texting and had three illicit drugs in his system when his car crossed the center line on Nelson Avenue, just south of John F. Kennedy Memorial Park. His car crashed into a 2002 Ford station wagon.
Joseph Reigelsberger, 23, of Rolfe, and Debra Lundt, 57, of Pocahontas, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Brown's sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 21, 2014. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
