The Vincent House and Humanities Iowa will host the presentation "Outside In: African-American History in Iowa" from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Vincent House.
This will be an audio-visual survey of the major people, organizations and events in Iowa's African-American history from its territorial beginning to the present, with an emphasis on Fort Dodge. Chase was born in Des Moines during World War II, but grew up in segregated Frankfort, Kty. He taught African American and U.S. history at Des Moines Area Community College for 20 years.
The presentation is free. Those attending are encouraged to bring personal photos or scrapbooks to share after the presentation. Refreshments will be served.
