FARNHAMVILLE - Firefighters were able to put out a small apartment fire Friday morning that temporarily displaced the residents of the complex.
The fire at 700 Farnham Ave. was reported to the Farnhamville Fire Department around 7 a.m., according to Fire Chief Jay Anderson.
"It was confined to one apartment unit," Anderson said. "We were able to extinguish it before it spread anywhere else."
Anderson said there were three people and one cat who lived in the unit. All of them were able to make it out safely.
"We evacuated the entire complex," Anderson said, though once the fire was extinguished everyone was allowed to return back to their units.
A preliminary investigation shows the fire started at a baseboard heater in the front room, but the cause of the fire had not been determined as of Friday afternoon.
There were 12 Farnhamville firefighters on scene, according to Anderson.
The Gowrie Fire Department was called for mutual aid, but Anderson said because the fire was extinguished so quickly their assistance was not needed.
