Margaret “Peggy” Dowd, of Fort Dodge, will celebrate her 95th birthday on June 10.

Her family includes Tom and Karen Dowd of Denver, Colorado, and Dan and Karen Dowd of Paradise Valley, Arizona. She has seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Her husband Tom, son Steve, and daughter Laurel are deceased.

Dowd was born on June 10, 1927, in Northwood, Iowa, to Clarence and Mae Challberg. When she was 6 months old, the family moved back to Fort Dodge where Peggy has lived ever since. She was a lifelong member of Corpus Christi Church, where she was organist for 20 years.

She was the manager of Prefact Company, a subsidiary of Dowd Insurance, for 25 years and a longtime volunteer for Iowa Radio Reading Information Service (IRIS). She traveled widely with her husband in the U.S. and abroad.
