FDPL Brown Bag Briefings start Thursday
The Friends of the Fort Dodge Library announce this spring’s installment of the Brown Bag Briefings. They are held every Thursday at noon in the meeting room of the Fort Dodge Library. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Water, coffee and cookies will be provided. The briefings last one hour and the public is invited to attend. There is no charge for admission.
April 3
The first session begins with RSVP volunteer coordinator Becky Koppen and presenter Maureen Kauleinamoku. Maureen will speak about SPAN (Seniors Preventing Addiction to Narcotics). You will learn about opioids, how to safely use, store and dispose of them and how to help family members avoid opioid use.
April 10
The second briefing has David Fierke, Fort Dodge city manager, who will speak to and answer questions about what we can expect for future growth in our community, both short term and long-range goals.
April 17
The third Thursday presenter is Dr. Jesse Ulrich, who is President of Iowa Central Community College. Dr. Ulrich will update us on current and future plans for the college and show how much of an impact the college has on our community.
April 24
Lori Gascho, who volunteers at the Fort Dodge Historical Society, will present a history of Fort Dodge movie theaters. Remember driving down Central Avenue looking at the marquees to see what was playing at the various theaters? It should be lots of fun to rekindle those memories.
