It’s time for Greater Crater Days
MANSON – The Calhoun County community of Manson will once again celebrate a long ago meteor crash with a full weekend of fun events highlighted by a night of country music performed downtown.
Manson Greater Crater Days is this coming weekend, with events set for Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday.
The Crash My Crater concert, with country band Parmalee as the headliner, will be Saturday night.
“We’re stoked,” said Jesse Grossnickle, the lead organizer of the concert.
He described Crash My Crater as a chance to hear “big time artists in small town Manson, Iowa.”
Parmalee is a country group from North Carolinia that consists of two brothers, one of their cousins and a friend. They have had four No. 1 hits and the single, “Girl in Mine” is now No. 15 on the country charts.
Also set to take the stage on Main Street is country singer Matt Stell.
Trevor Hill will be the opening act, followed by Corey Waller and Emily Johnson from the local band Corey Waller and the Wicked Things.
Brothers Matt and Scott Thomas; their cousin, Barry Knox; and friend Josh McSwain make up Parmalee. The band’s name is similiar to that of the brothers’ hometown of Parmele, North Carolina.
Their most recent No. 1 hit was “Just the Way,” which debuted in 2021.
Arkansas native Stell was the lead singer of The Crashers before striking out on his own.
Parmalee, Stell and the local opening acts will play on a stage set up on Main Street, north of Shore Side Pub & Grub.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. and Hill will take the stage at 5:30 p.m. Waller and Johnson will follow.
Stell will perform beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Parmalee will start at about 10 p.m.
