Reception set for new clergy in Humboldt County

HUMBOLDT — The public is invited to meet and greet new clergy in the Humboldt community at a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 14 at the Humboldt High School Library, 1500 Wildcat Road, Humboldt. The Humboldt County Ministerial Association will host the reception.

The reception will introduce and welcome pastors new to town and those who may be newly serving churches in the community.

Clergy newly serving Humboldt churches are: Abundant Life Church — the Rev. Sam Jones; Faith United Methodist Church — the Rev. Nathan Ferguson; Oak Hill Church — the Rev. Jeremy Gonzales; and St. Mary’s Church — Monsignor Kevin McCoy, the Rev. Francis Makwinja, and the Rev. Ross Caniglia.

“The Humboldt County Ministerial Association is here to join our faith community in service, faith, and love,” said the Rev. Katie Russell, pastor at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and ministerial association president. “We are excited to welcome new clergy to our community and hope many residents stop by to say hello,” she said.

The ministerial association includes pastors and laity from several local churches and local community organizational leaders — joining efforts to support crisis ministries, coordinate worship experiences, and communicate significant human needs in the community.

This welcome reception will be a come-and-go event where you can meet new pastors and their families. Enter the high school through the new front entrance. Light refreshments will be served.

Starting at $2.99/week.
