Becky Jones receives ROSE Award

Becky Jones receives ROSE Award

Becky Jones, a patient care technician in the Critical Care Unit, received the ROSE Award at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

She was nominated by three CCU nurses: Bobbi Dallman, Amanda Springer and Jena Sommerfeld.

In her nomination, Dallman describes Jones as the “go-to” for anything they need in the CCU, whether it be assisting with patient care, retrieving supplies, helping reorient confused patients or de-escalating upset or combative patients.

“Most importantly, she does all of these things without hesitance and a permanent smile on her face. Becky is often seen providing care to our patients with her gentle therapeutic touch and her soft caring voice. All of us critical care nurses recognize Becky as an outstanding and valuable member of our team who we know we can always rely on and trust to provide the best care to our patients every time. Becky demonstrates outstanding care to the patients of the Critical Care Unit, every single shift. She goes above and beyond for not only her patients but her fellow team members as well.”

Springer states that while the CCU unit can be a scary place to be, Jones has a way of treating everyone like her own family. Her nomination reads:

“Before you know it, they’re laughing and joking around instead of being scared. When you watch her interact with patients, you can really see how much she loves her job. She makes everyone around her feel at ease, and our patients absolutely love her. Becky is our PCT on nights in CCU, and she is amazing.. I always look forward to working with her. When I started on this unit, I was not a new nurse, but I was new to critical care, and even as a PCT, she has taught me so much already. She is someone always willing to help, and to teach, and never makes you feel bad for needing the help or not knowing how to do something. She also is someone that if you ask her to do something for you, she’s probably already way ahead of you and either already done it or is about to.”

In her nomination, Sommerfeld describes Jones as an amazing asset to the team.

“Becky is always willing to help and go above and beyond to make sure all patients needs are met, even if that means staying late after her shift is done. Becky has a great eye for detail and notices if something is off or not right with a patient which she always communicates so well to the nursing staff. I always get compliments from patients and families of how compassionate she is with them, always taking the time to communicate and listen to their concerns. I feel that Becky deserves the ROSE award for the outstanding compassion, care and kindness she provides to all of our patients in Critical Care. Thank You, Becky, for being amazing every day.”

The ROSE Award stands for Recognition Of Service Excellence and is handed out to patient care technicians who consistently demonstrate excellence through clinical expertise, extraordinary service and compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in the nursing community.

Patient care technicians can be nominated for the ROSE Award by patients, their family members or team members at UnityPoint Health.
