Mackenzie Alexander
Mackenzie Alexander, care coordinator BSW-Integrated Health Home, Berryhill Center; Joe Coleman, chaplain, and Mikaela Heikens, Trinity Foundation operations coordinator, received the Sunshine Award at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.
The award recognizes non-nursing team members who rise above expectations to brighten the day of patients or team members through their exemplary service.
Alexander was nominated by Jodena Harris, Berryhill Center, who said, “Mackenzie has been our champion for rolling out UKG, and she went above and beyond to ensure team members had access to information needed for the change to the new timekeeping system. Mackenzie provided education at staff meetings, informational signage and sent detailed emails to ensure a smooth transition.”
Coleman was nominated by Lacie Klepsteen, a registered nurse in Acute Care, who said, “Joe wasn’t on call and had just returned from vacation, but insisted on helping a patient in need of chaplain services. He never complained — and made it that same night to meet the patient.”
Heikens was nominated by Jeni Hill, Marketing, who shared, “When we got a new printer this year, Mikaela took extra meetings and met with the printing team multiple times to learn how to operate our new printer and to keep it running properly. On top of that, Mikaela tracks printing for multiple departments each month.”
