Riverside Elementary School kindergartner Ashley Davis — with the help of a bench — centers the cream pie perfectly on Principal Bruce Hartley. The pie in the face was a reward to the students for collecting funds in the Miles of Pennies effort. Money raised goes toward the purchase of student needs, such as books or playground equipment. Jeri Ayala’s kindergarten class was first with $175 collected, Becca Gascho’s fourth-graders were second with a total of $115. Hartley wore a clown suit for the occasion, protected here by a large garbage bag. Fourth-grader Cassidy Wolff also got to toss a pie.
