Fort Dodge woman charged with lottery theft
Fort Dodge police arrested a convenience store employee this week who they say cashed about 90 lottery tickets stolen from her work place.
Danielle Ault, 26, is charged with second-degree theft and lottery theft, Class D felonies, after cashing three bundles of lottery tickets with a retail value of $900 for about $520 in winnings.
Police say the employee of Tobacco Outlet Plus Grocery, 201 N. 15th St., redeemed the tickets at multiple convenience stores around Fort Dodge. Criminal complaints say that video surveillance shows Ault cashing the tickets in at four different Casey’s General Stores in the area. In one of the surveillance videos, she was wearing her convenience store’s work uniform.
This is in addition to stolen meat taken from the freezer of her store; the complaint says Ault admitted to stealing items valued at a total of $1,420.
