7 injured in Pocahontas County crash
Seven people were injured when a truck collided with a car Friday at the intersection of Iowa Highway 3 and Iowa Highway 15, according to Iowa State Patrol crash reports.
The crash was reported at 6:05 p.m.
Thomas Hemmingsen, 65, of Newell, was driving a Ford F2050 westbound.
Adrian Kannard, 17, of Rockwell City, was driving a Dodge Dart. Kannard was turning northbound onto Iowa Highway 15, the Iowa State Patrol reported.
The car was struck by Hemmingsen’s truck in the westbound lane of traffic.
The crash occurred about halfway between Gilmore City and Pocahontas.
Seven people suffered injuries – five of which are considered serious, the Iowa State Patrol reported.
Three people were airlifted to hospitals.
Brittany Niehaus, 15, and Ethan Hinners, 16, both of Fonda, were airlifted to UnityPoint Health – Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.
Patricia Bartholomew, 65, of Boone, was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines
Kannard was transported to a hospital in Spencer.
Hemmingsen was transported to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
Michael McNace, 64, of Lake View, was also transported to the Humboldt hospital.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Emergency personnel from Humboldt and Pocahontas responded to the scene.
