Webster City man sentenced for child porn

Brady Vandemark

WEBSTER CITY — A Webster City man will spend more than a decade in federal prison for possessing child pornography.

Brady Joseph Vandemark, 37, was sentenced to 132 months in federal prison on March 2. He had pleaded guilty in federal court in October for possession of child pornography.

His collection contained the equivalent of over 100,000 images, including of minors under the age of 12, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Northern District of Iowa.

Prior to his guilty plea and sentencing and while on pretrial release, Vandemark ran from law enforcement and cut off his monitoring device. He was discovered months later, hiding in a relative’s home in a closet behind a fake wall with a loaded rifle.

Following a stand-off with law enforcement, Vandemark was taken into custody without anyone being harmed.

After Vandemark completes his 11 years in prison, he must also serve a five-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. Vandemark was also ordered to pay $44,000 in restitution to victims in this case.

Prior to his 2019 federal indictment, Vandemark had a history of traffic violations in Iowa, but no misdemeanors or felonies.

Starting at $2.99/week.
