FILLMORE COUNTY, Minn. — A pair of men wanted for the Christmas Day murder of Montreail Dungy have been apprehended following a manhunt that led investigators north to Minnesota.
On Friday night, the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lakendrick A. Mosley, 31, in Fountain, Minnesota, just southeast of Rochester. Mosley was wanted on a first-degree murder warrant for the Christmas Day slaying of 46-year-old Montreail Dungy, of Fort Dodge.
An accomplice, Darwin L. Green, 27, remained at large and the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook to issue a warning to residents to lock all doors and secure vehicles while police in Fountain searched for Green.
On Saturday, the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook that Green was apprehended shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Green was seen walking along Minnesota Highway 52 before walking into a residential garage north of Preston in Fillmore County. Members of the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office and Preston Police Department located Green in the garage and arrested him with no incident.
Green is charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder.

Both men are being held in the Fillmore County Jail. On Monday, they will have a court hearing in Fillmore County where they can decide to waive or contest extradition back to Fort Dodge. Once extradition is ordered, the two men will be transported to the Webster County Jail and will have their initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court.
“We are thankful for the law enforcement agencies that assisted in apprehending Green and Mosley, in addition to the cooperation of citizens in that area,” said First Assistant Webster County Attorney Ryan Baldridge. “The Fillmore County Sheriff’s office and the Minnesota State Patrol were instrumental in taking these individuals into custody. Hopefully having these offenders in custody brings some peace of mind to Mr. Dungy’s family.”
Dungy was shot in the early morning hours on Christmas Day in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue Southwest in Fort Dodge. He was pronounced dead at the scene and FDPD began investigating the death as a homicide.
Last week, the FDPD publicly identified Mosley and Green as suspects in Dungy’s homicide and issued arrest warrants for the two men.
According to court records, Mosley is a resident of Des Moines, but he grew up and lived most of his life in Fort Dodge. Green is a resident of Fort Dodge. According to a 2009 obituary for their father, the two men are actually brothers.
Both Mosley and Green have an extensive criminal history.
According to court records, Green was just 12 years old when he was adjudicated as a juvenile for two counts of second-degree robbery. In 2012, he pleaded guilty to one count of attempted first-degree burglary, and in 2013 was found guilty of second-degree robbery by a Webster County jury.
Most recently, in 2017, Green pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, going armed with intent, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of a firearm by a felon.
In 2011, Mosley pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary, and in 2015 pleaded guilty to intimidation with a dangerous weapon and control of a firearm by a felon in connection to a non-fatal shooting on Fort Dodge’s south side.
Most recently, Mosley was charged last October for a controlled substance violation, failure to affix a drug stamp and driving while barred for an April 2022 traffic stop. That case remains open in the Webster County District Court.
Both first-degree murder and aiding and abetting first-degree murder are Class A felonies that carry a mandatory life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.
