FD council to consider food truck rules
Workshop to precede tonight's meeting
Basic rules on the operation of food trucks will be considered by the Fort Dodge City Council when it meets tonight.
The council is scheduled to vote on the first reading of those rules. But first, there will be some discussion of them during a workshop.
The council’s work will begin at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S. At that time the elected officials and the city staff will have workshop discussions on Main Street Fort Dodge, the food truck ordinance and ongoing capital improvement projects.
The council’s business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building.
That’s when the council will consider the first reading of the food truck rules.
Major components of the proposal include:
• Food trucks must have all required state licenses.
• Propane systems must be inspected by the Fire Department.
• Hours of operation and allowable places to operate are outlined.
Also tonight, the council will consider expanding the Center City and Industrial Park Urban Renewal Area so that tax increment financing can be used to pay for additional security cameras.
The area to be added is bordered by 22nd Street to the west, Eighth Avenue North to the north, 25th Street and Martin Luther King Drive to the east and Fourth Avenue North to the south.
