15th annual Rock n’ Picnic set in Humboldt
HUMBOLDT — Bring your coolers and lawn chairs to the 15th annual Rock n’ Picnic at Lower Sheldon Park, Humboldt, on Saturday and Sunday for two fun-filled days of music.
The entertainment will begin around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, starting with Randy Burk & the Prisoners taking the stage.
Humboldt native Kent Mick will be performing an acoustic set between the performances of Randy Burke and the Lazy River Band.
Starting at approximately at 8 p.m., will be the headliner, the Lazy River Band, which originated in Humboldt in 1969 while the band members were still in high school. They disbanded before most of the members graduated in 1973.
“The Lazy River Band is a community favorite in Humboldt,” said Paul Larson, Rock n’ Picnic organizer. “This is also a special get-together as it is the class of ’73s 50th reunion so it will be wonderful to hear them play again and it could possibly be their last performance so it is not something you will want to miss.”
There will be a freewill donation cajun boil where a variety of seafood will be available for guests to enjoy at 5 p.m. before the music begins. The cajun boil will consist of a mixture of sausage, vegetables, and a variety of spices.
The entertainment continues on Sunday starting around 2:30 p.m. beginning with Section 7, followed by Ronley King Blues Band, Wild Ambition, and ending the night will be Burnin’ Sensations.
Larson added, “On Sunday we will also have acoustic performances between each set so we can have continuous music throughout the day.”
On Sunday, there will be another free will donation meal offered beginning at 2 p.m. The meal will include beef burgers, pulled pork, coleslaw, chips, and periodically throughout the day there will be baby back ribs available.
Food is first come first serve and available while it lasts.
As well as musical entertainment on Sunday, guests will also have a chance to compete in the annual bags tournament. Sign up is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the tournament starting at noon.
On Sunday night before Burnin’ Sensations take the stage, there will be a silent auction which will include a homemade patio cooler and a guitar signed by all the band members who are playing at the 15th annual Rock n’ Picnic.
