Nelson seeks re-election in Ward 2
Fort Dodge City Councilman Cameron Nelson is seeking his second term in office representing Ward 2.
Nelson filed his nominating papers at the City Clerk’s office Tuesday.
Ward 2 is the southern half of the city.
Nelson lives at 2235 Highland Park Ave. He and his wife, Melissa, have one child.
The councilman is a sales manager at Shimkat Motor Co. in Fort Dodge. He is a native of Fort Dodge who graduated from St. Edmond High School and then took classes at Iowa Central Community College.
His community involvement includes Fort Dodge Noon Rotary Club, Webster County Crimestoppers, Lifeworks Charitable Foundation, Pleasant Valley Awareness Committee, Leadership Fort Dodge Steering Committee and the Stage Door Productions board.
Councilman Kim Alstott, who represents Ward 4, is the only other candidate for the Nov. 7 general election so far.
Fort Dodge voters will pick one at-large member of the council and representatives from all four wards in the upcoming vote.
