DM man arrested for chase in Humboldt, Pocahontas counties
HUMBOLDT — A man has been arrested and charged with leading law enforcement officers in a pursuit across parts of Humboldt and Pocahontas counties on Aug. 6.
Daniel F. Coonfield, 39, of Des Moines, was arrested and charged with eluding, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested Saturday in Hamilton County on unrelated charges. He is now being held in the Humboldt County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
The pursuit began at 6:10 a.m. Aug. 6 on Iowa Highway 3 in Humboldt County when a deputy attempted to stop the 2012 Chevrolet 3500 flatbed Coonfield was driving. Coonfield refused to stop and headed west on Iowa Highway 3.
Just east of the intersection of Iowa Highway 3 and Pocahontas County road N65, Coonfield drove into a field. He drove across the field until his vehicle got stuck in a drainage ditch near 530th Street and Pocahontas County road N65. He abandoned the vehicle and escaped from law enforcement officers at that time.
