Voting open for special election
Absentee requests available for upcoming general election
Absentee in-person voting for the upcoming Sept. 10 special election on city of Fort Dodge franchise fees is now available.
Absentee voting can be done in-person at the Webster County Courthouse in the Auditor’s office which is located on the second floor.
Voting by mail is no longer available. The deadline to request a ballot by mail was Aug. 26.
According to Webster County Auditor Doreen Pliner, two questions are on the ballot for Sept. 10th’s referendum — one for electric utility franchise fees and the other for gas utility franchise fees.
“These will be tallied separately,” said Pliner. “It must be achieved by 50 percent of the total votes.”
Three voting centers will be open on Sept. 10 for in-person voting, including First Covenant Church, 201 Ave. H; Fort Dodge Municipal Building, 819 1st Ave. S., and Fort Dodge Community School District Central Office, 109 N. 25th St. Fort Dodge residents are able to vote at any one of these locations.
According to Pliner, the poll books are also linked digitally and will communicate so that an individual is not able to vote in more than one location.
