The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved a one-year contract extension with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) during a special morning meeting Friday. The extension is for the contract that has been in place with the county for the construction of the Badger Trail project.

The Badger Trail project wrapped up this month, according to Webster County Conservation Director Matt Cosgrove, but with past weather delays there was additional seeding and erosion control that the DOT needed to check on. It also had to do additional walk-throughs with county staff before formally finalizing the project.

The contract extension was signed during Friday’s special meeting as the DOT had requested the paperwork be in place by Monday morning. Cosgrove told the supervisors that he anticipated the project being finalized by the end of the year.
