Lights at Kennedy
Annual holiday lighting displays to open Dec. 6
A dazzling drive-thru holiday lights experience is returning to John F. Kennedy Memorial Park in December.
Lights at Kennedy will open Dec. 6 for its 21st annual holiday light show.
“We’re excited for this year’s Lights at Kennedy,” said Andy Reed, who is in his 12th year as chairperson for the holiday event.
The annual holiday traditional display will be open Dec. 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the park, 1417 Nelson Ave. Cost to enter the light spectacle is a free will donation with all money going to support the initiatives of the Fort Dodge Noon Sertoma and Fort Dodge Young Professionals, who sponsor the event.
Thirty-five businesses and organizations will have light displays featured this year, in addition to the light spectacles designed by Noon Sertoma.
Lights at Kennedy will again feature the lit archway into the park as well as the 30-foot tree with more than 3,000 individual lights aglow.
“I believe this is the most displays that we have ever had,” said Reed. “The displayers are really stepping up this year.”
The light displays are again choreographed to music played on 88.7 FM radio.
According to Reed, more than 3,500 cars visited the holiday displays last Christmas.
“We look forward to continuing to grow, expanding, and adding new things to the display,” said Reed.
