Fort Dodge City Councilman Cameron Nelson has earned the designation of certified elected municipal official from the Iowa League of Cities.

He is the first Fort Dodge official to earn that designation.

To do so, he completed 50 credits through the Municipal Leadership Academy and the annual conference conducted by the League of Cities.

The program has been in place since 2012.

Nelson is in his second term representing Ward 2, which is the southern half of the city.
