New trial date set in Farnhamville murder case
Bevers McGivney charged with first degree murder
FARNHAMVILLE — A new trial date has been set for a Gowrie man accused of killing a 17-year-old girl in September.
Nathaniel K. Bevers-McGivney, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and felony abuse of a corpse in the death of Michele ‘Luna’ Jackson at the Farnhamville City Park on Sept. 23.
A jury trial date of July 8, 2025, in Calhoun County District Court was set this week by District Court Judge Derek Johnson.
Bevers-McGivney’s trial was previously scheduled to begin on Nov. 19 in Rockwell City, but the date was canceled when he waived his right to a speedy trial.
According to law enforcement, Jackson was reported missing by her mother on Sept. 22 when she didn’t return home after visiting the city park. While searching, Jackson’s mother and sister saw Bevers-McGivney with Jackson’s scooter and other personal items and reported it to law enforcement. Jackson’s body was found the next day.
