Santa for Seniors
Program in fifth year of blessing area senior citizens for holidays
Santa Claus will be making his way down the chimney for Webster County senior citizens this year.
Upper Des Moines Opportunity and Elderbridge Agency on Aging are offering the Santa For Seniors program for the fifth year. The program allows community members to provide holiday gifts for seniors in need.
According to Alisa Schlief, family and community services director for Upper Des Moines Opportunity, nearly all 100 available spots for seniors have been filled. To qualify, senior citizens must meet the 200-percent income guidelines.
Schlief said some of the favorite gifts for seniors include books, socks, blankets, cleaning supplies, and their favorite drinks, candy, or snacks.
Schlief said they’re looking for individuals and groups to be Santa Claus for Webster County seniors. Lists are currently available and all gifts must be turned in to UDMO by Dec. 13.
