During a recent visit with members of Walter Porsch Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1856, World War II veteran Dean Polking, of Fort Dodge, spent most of the morning telling stories about his service. Here Polking at left, talks with Tom Dorsey. Polking was a pilot in the Army Air Force who flew missions during the 1945 battle for Okinawa. He additionally flew missions that involved dropping paratroopers. But he also got the younger veterans laughing with some of his stories.
