Des Moines woman pleads guilty in charges connected to FD robbery

A woman charged with robbing a Fort Dodge convenience store in August has pleaded guilty to two charges and will serve probation, according to court records.

Sara A. Reimers, 38, of Des Moines, pleaded guilty to first-degree harassment and fifth-degree theft. She had initially been charged with second-degree robbery.

The robbery happened at 9:17 a.m. Aug. 11 at Casey’s General Store, 3327 Fifth Ave. S. According to criminal complaints filed against her, Reimers went into the store and threatened to kill the clerk. She then stole eight packs of Newport Red 100 cigarettes, the criminal complaints state.

On Monday, District Court Judge Derek Johnson accepted the plea agreement between Reimers and the Webster County Attorney’s Office, then issued the sentence.

For the crime of first-degree harassment, Reimers was ordered to serve two years in prison, but that sentence was suspended and she was instead ordered to serve two years of probation. She was also ordered to pay an $855 fine, but that was also suspended.

For the offense of fifth-degree theft, she was ordered to serve one day in the Webster County Jail, but was given credit for the time she was in jail immediately after her arrest, so she will not have to serve any more time.

Starting at $2.99/week.
