FD man sentenced for incident at casino
Hill charged with passing winning wager
A Fort Dodge man was sentenced to probation for a December 2023 incident at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson.
Marcus Hill, 51, pleaded guilty to passing a winning wager to another person. Hill had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years along with an order to pay restitution and court fees.
Court documents show that on Dec. 17, 2023, Hill won a jackpot from a slot machine at Wild Rose Casino. Hill had another person attempt to claim the jackpot because he owed more than $12,000 to the state of Iowa, which would have garnished his winnings. Wild Rose Casino video surveillance showed Hill winning at the slot machine. He was arrested by officers at the scene.
A hearing on Hill’s restitution will be held Jan. 15, 2025, at the Greene County Courthouse.
