FD school board approves financials

The Fort Dodge Community School District school board met briefly Monday to approve a short agenda.

The board approved out-of-state-travel for Jillian Nelson, Allison Dencklau, Ellyson Shelton, and Branwyn Greathouse to attend the Midwest Symposium for Leadership in Behavior Disorders Conference in Kansas City in February.

The board also approved financial reports for the month of November.

“Financials through November were very routine this year,” said Brandon Hansel, executive director of financial services for the Fort Dodge Community School District. “We collected just under $16.9 million dollars from our $50 million budget, and we’ve spent $14.7 million. We’re feeling good about where we’re at.”

A majority of the school board joined the meeting via Zoom during the Christmas holiday break.

“Thanks to all of you for joining today,” said Superintendent Josh Porter. “I know this is a little unconventional, but this allows us to process our monthly bills and wrap up those financials. We appreciate you jumping on and doing this.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
