Ron Newsum, chairman of the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight, second from left, accepts a $1,490 donation from The Messenger. Also pictured from left are Charlene Peterson, Leanne Darr, Jes Nemechek and Holly Rokes, who are members of The Messenger’s advertising staff. The money was generated by the newspaper’s annual Veterans Day edition. The Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight takes veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the nation’s war memorials. The flights take off in the early morning hours at Fort Dodge Regional Airport and return that same night. Since it began in 2010, the local Honor Flight program has taken more than 3,500 veterans to Washington. The next flight will be held in May 2025.

Starting at $2.99/week.
