BHJ cutting 15 jobs
Operations changing at cold storage company
A Fort Dodge cold storage business is eliminating 15 positions as the company reduces local operations.
Helen Adamson, vice president of human resources for Omaha, Nebraska-based BHJ USA, confirmed the move Monday.
“As the pet food industry in North America continues to evolve, we must remain agile in order to stay competitive and efficient in the market,” she said. “To ensure we are aligned with these changes, we have made the decision to modify our operations at the BHJ Fort Dodge, Iowa, facility.”
According to Adamson, the local site will become a cold storage and tank wash facility, with all other production ending.
The result is that 15 jobs are being eliminated.
“We are working with those affected and offer support as we navigate this transition,” Adamson said.
The BHJ USA plant is at 2472 170th St. on the city’s northern edge. Many residents may remember it as the Omaha Cold Storage facility. The plant received a $5 million upgrade in 2012.
