Decker Truck Line closes Montana terminal

Decker Truck Line Inc. has announced the permanent closure of its Missoula, Montana, terminal.

According to CEO Dale Decker, the closure is necessitated by evolving freight patterns that no longer justify an underutilized terminal.

“This decision was not made lightly, but it is necessary due to the changing freight network patterns and the associated costs of operating a full terminal that is not being utilized sufficiently,” CEO Dale Decker said in a statement.

The closure will affect 12 positions at the Missoula terminal. Decker said it plans to work with employees in Missoula to “explore relocation options” if they’d like to remain with Decker Truck Line, Inc.

“As our business continues to grow, our focus will shift more towards core regions. This strategy aims to enhance density in our well-established areas,” Decker said. “However, we will continue to require drivers residing in the Montana area, but we no longer consider it a strategic advantage for having a terminal in Missoula along with the associated overhead costs.”

Decker Truck Line has approximately 790 company drivers and power units who focus on hauling general freight, refrigerated goods, and building materials.

Decker Truck Line is headquartered in Fort Dodge with additional terminals in Mediapolis, Iowa; Bessemer, Alabama; and Hammond, Indiana, as well as a maintenance facility in Des Moines.

Starting at $2.99/week.
