Parking tickets just got more expensive in Fort Dodge.

The City Council on Monday gave final approval to increasing those tickets to $20. The cost would rise to $35 if the ticket isn’t paid in a timely manner.

Following the council’s action, the initial parking fine is now $20. If it isn’t paid within 30 days, another $10 will be added. If it isn’t paid after 75 days, the ticket will be referred to the county Treasurer’s Office, and the county will add a $5 fee.

In other business, the council hired Cardenas Concrete LLC, of Fort Dodge, to do sidewalk and parking lot repairs in city parks at a cost of $122,238.09
