Fort Dodge man gets 16 years for dealing meth

A Fort Dodge man who pleaded guilty to dealing three pounds of methamphetamine has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

Jordan Taylor, 35, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.

He had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine on April 11, 2024. He had been convicted of two prior drug trafficking offenses, which made him a career offender, prosecutors said.

Federal prosecutors said that on several occasions in August 2023, Taylor sold methamphetamine to an individual working with law enforcement.

After obtaining a warrant, law enforcement officers searched a hotel room where Taylor was staying on Sept. 29, 2023. When the officers got in the room, they found Taylor in the bathroom trying to flush a substance believed to be methamphetamine down the toilet.

In the room, officers seized about one pound of methamphetamine, psilocin mushrooms, pharmaceutical tablets, more than $1,100 in cash and drug paraphernalia, according to prosecutors.

The Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol were involved in the investigation.

Starting at $2.99/week.
