Local Government Day
Leadership FD, Junior Leadership FD tour Webster County Courthouse
Dozens of local students and adults toured the Webster County Courthouse this week as part of Local Government Day for both Leadership Fort Dodge and Junior Leadership Fort Dodge.
The event, hosted by the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance and Webster County government offices, allows students and residents to learn more about how their local government operates and serves citizens and taxpayers.
“Local Government Day for Junior Leadership and Leadership Fort Dodge has always been a meaningful and rewarding experience for me,” said Webster County Recorder Lindsay Laufersweiler. “As someone passionate about community involvement, I am proud to serve on the Leadership Fort Dodge Steering Committee and help organize this day. It provides a valuable learning opportunity to highlight the essential services provided by our hardworking county team.”
Laufersweiler led the groups through the Courthouse, even showing participants the vault housing Webster County land and deed records.
Webster County Supervisor Chairwoman Niki Conrad also hosted the groups in the Board of Supervisors chambers, even hosting a mock meeting for each group.
“Welcoming students to the courthouse and giving them an idea of some of what we do here at the county is such a treat,” she said. “They consistently ask insightful questions about things that matter to them. It’s one of the highlights of my year to host them in the boardroom for a mock meeting, and I’m so appreciative of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance for giving both them and us this opportunity.”
