TWINterfest back to ‘transform’ Twin Lakes
Yearly event takes place once again with activities around the lake
TWIN LAKES — What started out as a way to help folks at Twin Lakes get through the winter months has grown into an annual event.
TWINterfest 2025 is set for Feb. 1 as a way to promote family-based outdoor activities around the lake.
Ice skating, toboggan rides, UTV and motorcycle races are all expected to be held along with a polar plunge. There will also be inflatable slides, a rock climbing wall hosted by Twin Lakes Bible Camp and more.
“We have such a strong community here at the lake and there is unlimited resources of people that we could ask for help,” founder Bill Stephenson said. “Our goal is to make this as family-friendly as possible so that we can create an environment that kids can enjoy just as much as adults.
“It has also been super exciting to see not only how many people come out, but how many people that go south for the winter come back just for this weekend,” he added.“It really is incredible to see how the lake transforms.”
On Friday, a chili and cinnamon roll dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Twin Lakes Bible Camp, 7718 Twin Lakes Road. The following day’s events will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and coffee from Stay Grounded Cafe, of Sac City.
Lucky Wife Wine Slushies, pizza and cocktails from Traditions, FeedShack BBQ and mini donuts will all be available for purchase along with a hot dog bar. Broomball, barrel rides, and snow yoga will all lead into a DJ party on the ice and fireworks to conclude the event.
Segway Powersports will have a demo area.
“We have a great group of vendors that will be on hand,” Stephenson said. “It is looking like a beautiful day even though we don’t have any snow. The ice is perfect for racing and the church camp is going to open up for so many of the activities.”
TWINterfest was first held in 2022 when Fort Dodge natives Stephenson and Mike Murphy began putting ideas together.
About the only area Stephenson wishes could be improved upon is having a civic organization or club coming out to raise funds for their own costs and supplies.
“We’d love to have a team, civic club or community organization volunteer time to come out,” Stephenson said. “It is a great opportunity with an event like this for any of those kinds of clubs to come out and fundraise. We are always looking for more of that.”
