City council to consider raises, budgets

The proposed purchase of the sports pavilion at Corridor Plaza is but one item on a very full Fort Dodge City Council agenda.

The council will begin its work at 5 p.m. today in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with a budget workshop. The proposed budgets for Dodger Area Rapid Transit, the city manager’s office, the City Council, the city attorney, the city clerk’s office, human resources and information technology will be reviewed.

Then at 6 p.m., the council’s regular business meeting will begin. That is when the pavilion purchase will be considered.

Also during that meeting, the council will consider raising its pay and that of the mayor.

The city’s Salary Review Advisory Board, appointed by the council, has recommended raising the pay of the mayor to $15,225. The mayor is currently paid $15,000.

That board also recommended raising the salary of the seven council members from $4,800 to $4,900.

Any approved raises would not go into effect until Jan. 1, 2026.

Also during the meeting, the council is scheduled to act on:

• A contract for water main work on South 32nd Street.

• The sale of property along Third Avenue Northwest to Hoppe Development, of Lincoln, Nebraska, for $369,000. That company has proposed building 65 apartments there.

• Hiring an engineering firm to design improvements on North 15th Street.

Starting at $2.99/week.
