‘Poorly Drawn Portraits’ now available for Valentine’s
FD Fine Arts fundraiser ends Friday
Supporting local artists — both professional and beginner level — is the perfect way to show that someone special that you care for Valentine’s Day.
The Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association is again offering Poorly Drawn Portraits for the upcoming holiday of love. All proceeds from the Valentine’s Day portraits will go toward programming and operating expenses for the Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association.
“Whether you get a stunning piece by a skilled artist or an awesomely unique masterpiece reminiscent of a second-grade prodigy, you’ll walk away with a one-of-a-kind treasure, and that’s half the fun,”said Shelly Bottorff, executive director of the Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association.
According to Bottorff, they’ve had photos of pets submitted, wedding pictures, family pictures, and more.
“This has turned into a hilarious tradition,” said Bottorff. “We gather around the conference table as a board of directors, along with some additional artists, and draw portraits for hours. The result is a unique gift for that someone special on your list that is difficult to buy for.”
The deadline to commission a Poorly Drawn Portrait is Feb. 7. The requested donation is $25 for a digital download with an additional $25 donation for the original artwork.
