A suicidal man was hospitalized after a roughly four hour standoff with police in a Fort Dodge hotel Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at the Baymont Inn & Suites, 2938 Fifth Ave. S.

The man was armed and threatened to kill people. He also asked police to shoot him.

When he stopped communicating with officers they went into his hotel room and found him unresponsive after apparently overdosing. He was transported to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center.
