Agreements reached with police, fire unions
Agreements with unionized police officers and firefighters were approved by the Fort Dodge City Council Monday.
Police officers represented by Public Professional and Maintenance Employees Local 2003 have a contract already in place through June 30, 2027. But that contract included a provision for renegotiating wages for the final two years.
Under the agreement approved Monday, those officers will receive a 1 percent raise July 1, a 1.5 percent raise July 1, 2026, and a 1.5 percent raise on Jan. 1, 2027.
Firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians are represented by International Association of Firefighters Local 622. The agreement approved Monday goes into effect July 1 and expires June 30, 2028.
It includes these raises:
• 1 percent on July 1.
• .25 percent on Jan. 1, 2026.
• 1.5 percent on July 1, 2026.
• 1.5 percent on Jan. 1, 2027.
• 1.5 percent on July 1, 2027.
• 1.5 percent on Jan. 1, 2028.
Both contracts include provisions that compress the levels and steps in the pay scale so that employees can move up faster.
Councilwoman Jen Crimmins was absent from the otherwise unanimous vote to approve both agreements.
