Assessor cancels resigination
Webster County Assessor Angie Vinson has rescinded her resignation and is expected to remain on with the county.
Vinson tendered her resignation to the Conference Board on March 10 when they could not come to an agreement on Vinson’s salary. Former member of the Examining Board Gary Nelson said at the time that Vinson was paid “below market rate.”
Monday morning the Board met for more than two hours and after 11 motions and 10 votes finally approved a budget that offered Vinson a 9.75-percent increase as well as a 3-percent increase for her staff.
During Monday’s meeting the Board then voted to not accept Vinson’s resignation with the hope that the salary increase would keep her on as assessor. Vinson rescinded her resignation shortly after the meeting. The Board will need to formally accept the rescission at a coming meeting.
Additional details on Monday’s meeting will be provided in Tuesday’s edition of The Messenger.
