FD City Council approves raises, zoning change
Many Fort Dodge city employees will receive a 3 percent raise as a result of City Council action Monday.
The council approved a 3 percent cost of living adjustment, effective July 1, for members of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 2932. The union includes employees in the Public Works and Public Areas departments, the utility billing office and Fort Dodge Fiber, the municipal broadband utility.
The council also approved a 3 percent cost-of-living adjustment for non-union employees.
In an unrelated matter, the council granted final approval to zoning changes needed for the construction of a new Kwik Star store at Second Avenue North and 15th Street. The new store will be located behind the current one. The company has purchased property on North 16th Street to accommodate the new store, and some houses have already been torn down to make room for it.
