FD man pleads guilty for meth distribution

Caquelin distributed more than 50 grams of meth in area

A Fort Dodge man pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to distributing controlled substances.

According to prosecutors, Christopher Lee Caquelin, 41, was found to be part of an ongoing drug conspiracy in Fort Dodge from Jan. 1, 2023, to Oct. 31, 2024. As part of the conspiracy, Caquelin distributed more than 50 grams of pure methamphetamine which he sold to people in the Fort Dodge area as well as sources who were working with local law enforcement, prosecutors said.

Caquelin remains in custody of the United States Marshal, pending upcoming sentencing. Caquelin faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of life in prison along with a $10 million fine and five years to life of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Police Department, and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
