While residents have been shoveling away Iowa’s snow and ice in recent weeks, the Webster County Fair Board has been busy planning for July heat, tractor pulls, and funnel cakes for the upcoming 2025 Webster County Fair.
“We have so many exciting and free events for fairgoers this year,” said Fair Manager Heather Stewart. “We have Wolves of the Wild, Rocketman Valencia who will be shot out of a cannon, Agri golf, a couple new food trailers, and so much more.”
The Fair Board has also set the Grandstand schedule. Figure 8 races will be held on Wednesday, followed by Mini Madness on Thursday with mini mods, lawn mower races, pit bike buddy races, and power wheel races. Friday will feature ATVs and tough trucks, and Saturday’s Grandstand event is truck pulls.
The Fair Board has again made entrance and events free for fairgoers, including Kids’ Day, which will be July 17.
“Bring the kids out and enjoy the day,” said Stewart. We plan on having the Kids’ Zone packed again like it was last year. There will also be livestock shows along with static exhibits inside the auditorium, delicious fair foods, and a lot of fun things for the kids to do.”
The board also spent the fall and winter months completing additional renovations to the bathrooms of the indoor arena and putting in new doors in the cattle barn. The renovations on the indoor arena are in the second phase, with the board hoping to update the kitchen and to lift and re-level the bleachers with rock underneath before July.
“The cattle barn needed new doors,” said Stewart. “They were falling apart. We have half the money already raised, so we are needing the other half and the cost for installation. We appreciate all donations, and they’re tax deductible.”
As a fundraiser for the upcoming fair, the board is hosting Dueling Pianos on Saturday at the fairgrounds. According to Stewart, proceeds from the event help to pay for judges and to keep the fair and all entertainment free for attendees.
Individual tickets for Dueling Pianos are $40 or $300 per table. Tickets can be reserved by calling 515-351-7385.
