Two Manson residents found dead
Authorities believe deaths were drug related
MANSON — Two Manson residents were found dead in a rural Pocahontas County home Monday.
According to Pocahontas County Sheriff Steven Nelson, deputies responded to 32351 590th St. north of Manson, where they found 61-year-old Lynnette Walstrom and 52-year-old Jeremy Schuttler, both of Manson, deceased.
The Palmer Fire Department was called in to test for the presence of carbon monoxide, which was found not to be present.
Deputies found various drug-related items in the home, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary tests confirmed the presence of fentanyl.
“At this time, the deaths are believed to be drug-related pending toxicology results from the autopsies at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office,” stated Nelson in a press release. “There is no foul play suspected at this time.”
The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Gilmore City First Responders, Palmer First Responders, Palmer Fire Department, Pocahontas Community Hospital Ambulance, Gunderson Funeral Home, and the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office.
