The annual Go Big Go Dodgers event is inching closer.
The Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation will hold the event at the Laramar Ballroom on Friday.
This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Foundation and all proceeds go to the Fort Dodge Community School District.
“This is our largest fundraiser,” said Foundation Director Nik Moser. “Our mission is to pay for anything above and beyond the district’s general budget.
“We get requests from teachers and the board reviews and then we go from there.”
The event will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with silent and live auctions.
Live music from Jared Benson will entertain the crowd. Former Fort Dodge student Isaiah Deegan will do a live painting for the event.
Tickets will be $40 each and school employees will receive a discount.
Tickets can be purchased at www.fdcsfoundation.org
The Foundation has helped in many ways, recently purchasing an antamoage table for Fort Dodge Senior High School.
The anatomage table is the most advanced real-human-based 3D anatomy and medical education system. It offers digitized human cadavers, superior medical learning tools, and realistic 3D anatomy experiences.
“We helped purchase the anatomage table, which cost $110,000,” Moser said. “With the help of the Foundation and businesses in town we were able to make this happen.”
The Foundation has also done a lot at the Fort Dodge Middle School as well, helping Consumer Science classes and purchasing things for CTE and the PE Department, Moser said.
“We have purchased books and technologies for classrooms,” Moser said. “We bought a rock climbing wall and Stryder bikes for the (Early Childhood Center). We help in any way that we can.”
Members of the Foundation board are: past President Joe Vonsak, President Hope Brown, Vice President Dan Scott, and Secretary Kelly Hinds.
Other board members are Amy Pingel, Holly McClintock, Rick Lamoureux, Troy Schroder, Cole Jaeschke, Stefanie Koenig, Mary Kay Daniel, Sarah Marsh.
