Diekman arrested in Des Moines

A Fort Dodge man wanted for shooting another man in the face on March 28 has been found and arrested in Des Moines.

Dontay Diekman, 41, was found at 1530 20th Place in Des Moines Friday morning following a tip to law enforcement, according to the Fort Dodge Police Department.

Des Moines Police made entry to the home and took Diekman into custody on charges of attempted murder, going armed with intent, and possession of a firearm as a felon.

He is accused of shooting another man in the early morning hours of March 28. Police and paramedics were called to 1433 Fourth Ave. S. at 4:06 a.m. that day for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was treated at the scene and transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

According to Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn, the investigation into the March 28 shooting remains on-going.
